Super swanky place. The seared scallops were my favorite and the farroto was really good. We also got mussels, which came with bread, and the bread is really good to dip in the tomato sauce in the mussel dish. Our server was amazing and very attentive. If you're looking to try Portugese food, this is a great place to go!

Oporto Fooding House & Wine was the perfect spot for an intimate birthday dinner with friends. We came as a party of 5 with reservations and were promptly seated within 5 mins of our time. The restaurant was packed on a Fri night so definitely make reservations. Our waiter was fantastic from start to finish. I unfortunately don't remember his name, but he knew the menu like the back of his hand. He gave us great recommendations since it was some of our parties' first time here. If you didn't know what you wanted to drink, he'd just ask for a flavor profile you're looking for, like "refreshing," and he knew exactly the drink you'd like. He brought these drinks out as a surprise based on your taste, but if you didn't like it, they wouldn't hesitate to get you something else instead. Food wise, my favorites were the goat cheese in tomato sauce appetizer, the chicken curry empanadas, the polvo com batatas, scallop farrotto, and my absolute favorite, their seafood balchao curry. That seafood curry was SO GOOD! Rich, creamy, lots of seafood, and plenty of naan to soak up all the sauce. Last, but not least, if you're coming with a group, don't skip out on the dessert flight. It lets you try their chocolate torte, pastel de nata, bread pudding, and their Portuguese style tiramisu. That tiramisu even made our "tiramisu hating" friend a believer. Enjoy y'all! PS. They do have a validation code if you park in the nearby parking garage.

I was here for a friend's birthday and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the paella for the table to share and it was simply delicious. Rice was so flavorful and even taking it home as a leftover it kept up in quality. Definitely worth it. Friends had the lunch special which was 3 courses for a good price so I'll have to check it out next time. Parked in a garage but the waiter gave us a code to validate parking.

I had a satisfying meal at Oporto Fooding House and Wine, especially considering the Restaurant Week rush (Date of visit: August 19, 2023 @ 5/5:30PM). The standout was the scallop farrotto - huge scallops cooked just right, paired with a delicious, well-seasoned farrotto (farro risotto). Their giant meatball appetizer was tasty too. Service was surprisingly quick for how packed the place was. We sat at the bar, which definitely helped us get a table faster. The ambiance is nice, but think an elevated Panera vibe rather than something super intimate. Overall, worth checking out if you're looking for good food and can handle a bit of a crowd.

The port. Had a 6:30 pm reservation on a Friday night. Thunderstorms for 2 hours prior so wasn't sure how we'd fair. They have some street parking (metered) and a garage. There is valet but after seeing the way they drove the cars we were glad it was early enough for us to find street parking and make the 4 min walk. Meter parking for 2 hours $2. We were sat quickly and there was a good amount of people. The restaurant is nice. Quaint. But very very dark. Neither of us drink so we each had a mock tail. We ordered: Daily bread - house baked focaccia with seasonal toppings & sourdough with herbed olive oil Bread was fresh and warm and went well with the herbed olive oil ( I also dipped it in the curry) Croquetas De Bacalhau - crispy salted cod & whipped potato fritter/ piri piri Perfect balance of filling and the fried batter was light and the sauce went well Polvo Com Batatas -grilled spanish octopus/ mustard seed shaak potatoes/ salsa verde The octopus was grilled to perfection and so very tender. The potatoes paired nicely. Seafood Balchao Curry - gulf red snapper/ shrimp/scallop/ spicy goan curry This. Is. A . Must. Very very nice curry, could not get enough. Large prawns and fish pieces. Came with side of rice and roti. We ended the night with: BOLO DE BOLACHA portuguese 'tiramisu'/ espresso soaked maria cookies/ port laced cream/ cocoa powder. I am not a fan of tiramisu. But lawd, this was so delicious! The staff was great from the hostess to our waiter. I think his name was Dandy and he gave us some great suggestions and was very honest. Def plan on going back! Make reservations. By the time we left, it was almost a full house.

Updated review from 6 years ago, and its a +2 star upgrade to 5 stars. Our party of ten or so came to Oporto for a business dinner. With so many people, you're able to share LOTS of sides, mains and desserts so the chances of getting great dishes over mediocre dishes is huge. Everything we ordered was outstanding, and I left the restaurant very full. Service from Shaw (sp?) was wonderful - he gave good recs, was knowledgeable on finer points of Brazilian cocktails, and even has a slight resemblance to Lebron James! I recommend sharing the following: 1. Portuguese Paella - oh my! Hanger steak, snapper, shrimp, scallops, mussels, sausage and shishito peppers mixed with some fragrant, moist rice. An order easily serves 3 people. 2. Lamb Ribs are fall-of-the bone juicy. 3. Bacalhau - must get dish of fried salt cod fritters. Crispy, packed with flavor. They don't skimp on the cod. We got extra orders. 4. Between the red and white sangrias I liked the red more - fruity and boozy. 5. Definitely get the octopus - cooked perfectly and so soft. 6. Lastly, save room for tiramisu - their version adds a bit of Port but otherwise is as good as the Italian version.

At first glance, Oporto's is a little hard to find, since it's located right between two roads with no parking lot. We went to Oporto's on a weekday for lunch and it was peaceful and fairly empty. Our waiter was super nice and gave us a bunch of recommendations including Chicken Curry Empanadas and Portuguese Squid Fried Rice. We ended up ordering Bife A Portuguesa, Chicken Curry Empanadas, and Portuguese Squid Fried Rice, with a Fig and Honey to drink. The Bife A Portuguesa is essentially a steak sandwiched between a fried egg and batatas bravas. This dish is solid and definitely worth a try, the potatoes were savory and topped with their homemade tomato sauce. The steak was cooked medium rare, as we requested and wasn't too tough to chew. The Portuguese Squid Fried Rice was a nice, carb-rich dish that provided us with delicious fried rice embedded with pops of seafood. Not a single grain of rice went to waste. The Fig and Honey was our drink of choice. It was incredibly crisp, a little tart, with a hint of sweetness. The dried orange slice topped off the drink with a citrusy feel and eliminated the usual bitter aftertaste of alcohol. Last but certainly not least was the Chicken Curry Empanadas, and these are a must order if you decide to go to Oporto's. The empanadas are firm but at the first bite, instantly melt in your mouth. Each bite is a warm explosion of meaty flavor with a twist of curry. The Chicken Curry Empanadas alone would make me want to come again. I would definitely recommend giving Oporto's a try, and the Chicken Curry Empanadas are a must order if you do decide to go.

Amazing tapas place that's mainly Portuguese style dishes but with Spanish influences and a little bit of Indian fusion in some dishes. We did the scallops, bread basket, octopus, grilled sardines, paella, shrimp and potato's bravas. It was all pretty good and was pleasantly surprised by how tender the steak was in the paella. Nice ambience and would say it's great for groups and for more intimate dates as well

Mid-September, a request was bestowed upon me to organize a last minute birthday for a friend. After getting the messages out to the invitees, I had to pick a spot. With several people joining, my mind raced until I realized: TAPAS! Everyone loves Tapas-style eats, especially amongst parties of people. So YELP brings me here and after reading several reviews, decided this would be the spot. Plus with the location on Gray Street in the midtown area, it was a close commute for several of us. Service was excellent as we had a couple servers taking our orders, bringing us drinks, and clearing our dishes. Everyone was friendly and made the experience enjoyable. I also like the layout and floorplan of the area, there's plenty of inside and outside seating with hightop seating in the middle area near the bar and kitchen. Portugese/Spanish restaurants like these would typically specialize in wine and they do so. Their wine list is extensive, with a number of options "on tap". Each of us got some glasses of their malbec tercos which was easy to drink. Another person ordered a tropical storm cocktail while another got the caipirinha; both people enjoyed them. Now the eats. Obviously we ordered a plethora of items which included: Chicken curry empanadas (3 per order) - 8/10 Batatas bravas - 8/10 Pao com chorizo (Potato bread filled w/ chorizo and cheese) - 6/10 Hummus duo - 9/10 Daily bread basket - 6/10 Salada de Polvo (Octopus salad) - 8/10 Crab & Avocado crostini - 6/10 Shrimp & crab pizza - 8/10 House ice cream - 7/10 Madeira bread pudding - 9/10 Bolo de bolacha (Portugese tira misu) - 9/10 Pretty much all the items were good or very good. The pao com chorizo was an item I was excited about and while tasty, it was too starchy and heavy for me with the bread. The crab & avocado crostini was ok, could've used a bit more seasoning. The empandas, salada de polvo, batatas bravas, and shrimp&crab pizza were tasty and had good flavors. My favorite was the hummus duo which consisted of two kinds: garlic and tumeric. As many of you know, I love a good hummus and enjoyed this one. Came with the naan bread which is great for dipping, plus drizzle some olive oil on it, delicious! The desserts were the stars of the show with the MAdeira bread pudding and the Bolo de bolacha both huge hits with the textures and layers of sweetness each one provided. The ice cream was alright, good but not great. We all enjoyed the experience here and we had a good time. This will be part of our restaurant rotation for group gatherings. Can't wait for the next one!
